Melatonin is produced in the pineal gland inside the brain each day when darkness falls. It is part of the "internal clock" that prepares the body for sleep. But this clock can get out of phase due to shift work, jetlag, stress, depression, or when melatonin production declines with age.
Research shows that taking a melatonin supplement an hour before bed can reset the internal clock, allowing you to return to a restful pattern of regular sleep. Non-medicinal ingredients: Dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, vegetable grade magnesium stearate (lubricant).

Recommended purpose: Helps increase total sleep time (aspect of sleep quality) in people suffering from sleep restriction or altered sleep schedule (e.g., shift work and jet lag). Supports rest and relaxation to aid with occasional sleeplessness. Helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep (sleep onset latency aspect of sleep quality) in people with delayed sleep phase syndrome. Helps reset the body's sleep-wake cycle (aspect of the circadian rhythm). 

Recommended adult dose: Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 4 weeks. Jet lag: Chew 1 tablet once daily at bedtime, while travelling and at destination until adaptation to the new time zone/daily pattern, or as directed by a health care practitioner. All uses except jet lag: Chew 1 tablet once daily, at or before bedtime, or as directed by a health care practitioner.

Caution: All uses except jet lag: Consult a health care practitioner if sleeplessness persists for more than 4 weeks (chronic insomnia). All uses: Do not drive or use machinery for 5 hours after taking melatonin. Avoid taking with alcohol or products that increase drowsiness. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have cardiovascular, immune, liver, or chronic kidney disease, hormonal or seizure disorders, asthma, depression, diabetes, low blood sugar, or migraine. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking steroids or blood thinners, medications for seizure or blood pressure, or medications to suppress the immune system (immunosuppressive medications), to affect mental state, or to increase sedation. Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop use if allergy occurs or if you experience headache, confusion, or nausea. Keep out of reach of children.
